Front-End Drivers operate front-end trucks that provide services to a variety of multi-family residential and commercial routes removing and transporting waste or recyclables in fulfillment of customer contracts. This position will service multiple customers per day according to assigned routes. The waste will then need to be transferred to the appropriate station, landfill or drop-off location. Key Responsibilities Safely operate a frontload truck to collect solid waste along designated routes. Open container enclosures/gates and reposition commercial cans (3–4 yards) when needed. Perform and document daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections; submit vehicle condition reports. Courteously interact with customers and the public to address questions or concerns. Clean up loose trash and ensure sites and roadways are kept safe and clean. Maintain accurate logs, route sheets, and inspection reports in accordance with company policy and regulations. Use GPS and key maps to navigate and locate service sites. Maneuver truck in tight spaces using mirrors; back up safely over long distances (~120 feet). Monitor dumping process for loose debris; visually inspect sites before and after collection. Adhere to all company safety policies and federal/provincial/local regulations. Follow proper lockout/tagout and truck operation procedures. Perform additional duties as assigned by management. Minimum Qualifications Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Minimum 1 year of commercial truck driving experience or CDL school certificate. Must meet company safety-sensitive criteria. Proven ability to safely operate frontload vehicles and related equipment. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of commercial truck operation and basic maintenance. Ability to maneuver large vehicles in tight areas and follow mapped routes. Ability to identify and manage unacceptable or hazardous waste materials. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to read, write, and interpret route maps and service documentation. Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs repeatedly and pushing/pulling up to 300 lbs. Ability to climb, crawl, balance, and work at heights when inspecting loads. Commitment to safety, adaptability, and continuous improvement. Physical & Mental Demands Frequent lifting, bending, stooping, climbing, and walking. Ability to enter/exit truck multiple times and access container sites. Regular lifting up to 25 lbs; frequent lifting up to 50 lbs; occasional lifting up to 100 lbs. Occasionally push/move up to 300 lbs. Sitting for up to 75% of the shift. Strong visual and auditory acuity needed for traffic, safety, and equipment monitoring. Working Conditions Outdoor work in varying weather (rain, heat, cold). Exposure to loud noise, mechanical vibration, dust, fumes, and chemicals. Work away from the branch location throughout the shift. Occasional work at elevated positions or in high traffic areas.
