As an Apprentice Heavy Equipment Technician, you’ll be part of a team that keeps our city moving — literally. You’ll work hands-on by actively learning diagnoses, repairs and maintaining mobile and stationary equipment owned by the city to ensure proper equipment operation This is a full-time, permanent position within our Facility, Fleet and Transit Services department, where your mechanical expertise, attention to detail, and pride in your work will make a direct impact on the services our residents rely on every day. What will you do? Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on various pieces of equipment (under Journeyman guidance) Maintain various pieces of equipment according to the manufacturer's preventative maintenance schedule (under Journeyman guidance) Maintain records of work performed on City equipment Clean and organize shop environment What you are? You are an ideal candidate if you have the following: First year and up Heavy Equipment Technician Apprentice Strong attention to detail 1-2 years of prior mechanical experience (preferred) Class 5 drivers’ license What we Offer?
