GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Senior Marketing Accountant will be responsible for all aspects of marketing accounting and crude settlement. This role interfaces internally with Marketing, Production Accounting, Operations, as well as external stakeholders. This dynamic, full-time position is based in Calgary and reports to the Department Controller. As a Senior Marketing Accountant with us the minimum responsibilities are: • Liaise with Marketing, Production Accounting, Financial Reporting, and other departments to ensure the smooth flow of information and proper tracking of both marketing revenues and processing and transportation costs while meeting tight monthly reporting deadlines • Create, verify and send marketing related invoices and purchaser statements • Enter data and optimize the use of the energy marketing system - Egistix • Accurate and timely accrual, invoicing, settlement, and booking of marketing transactions • Reporting and analysis of transportation commitments • Perform monthly and year-end financial closing processes, including the preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements • Analysis of monthly budget and accrual variances • Reconcile cash receipts and resolve missing payments • Assist with counterparty setup and ensure alignment with credit policy • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation • Mentor junior team members • May perform other duties as required WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU: • University Degree in Accounting or Business; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered • CPA designation is preferred • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in marketing accounting • Sound understanding of marketing accounting including settlement-day activities • Ability to develop and manage processes and controls, and provide input on key processes • Advanced Excel expertise required • Experience with Petrotranz and Egistix is preferred • Strong attention to detail, highly organized with proven abilities to adhere to tight deadlines • Proven team player with excellent communication skills who maintains professional, collaborative relationships with all internal and external stakeholders • Must be able to pass all pre-employment requirements WHAT YOU’LL GET FROM US: • Competitive Wages • Retirement Plan with company match; let us help you save for your future • Benefits; Medical, Dental, Vision • Perks, perks, perks!
