The Media Ecosystem Observatory at McGill University is seeking applications for part-time Undergraduate Research Assistants to support monitoring the digital information ecosystem (social media and news outlets) during the Canadian Federal election. The successful applicant will have: Familiarity with social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.) Strong analytical and critical thinking skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Effective communication skills (both written and verbal) Proficiency in a second language is preferred but not required Interest in the study of misinformation, disinformation, and information ecosystems Under the supervision of the Media Ecosystem Observatory research team, the successful candidate will be expected to fulfill the following duties: Collect and analyze social media data related to the Federal election Assist in the development of research methodologies and data collection strategies Conduct literature reviews and contribute to the preparation of research reports and publications Collaborate with other research assistants and team members on assigned tasks Attend and participate in team meetings and other relevant events Contract Details: This position is a part-time casual contract position for the duration of the Canadian Federal election, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and project requirements. Education: Currently enrolled McGill undergraduate student in a relevant field (e.g., Communication Studies, Computer Science, Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, or a related discipline).
