Hours of Work 0-27.5 hours per week Contract April 1, 2025 – September 1, 2025 Department Recreation, Community & Culture Location This position is required to work in person at various sites across the City. Work location is subject to change at the discretion of the City due to operational demands. Position Overview This position is responsible for assisting with maintaining clean, safe and available city recreation facilities in Arena/Pool/Community Centre/Specialty Facilities portfolio, while providing customer service on facility maintenance issues for clients. Responsibilities As an important member of the facility operations section, you will be responsible for the following (including but not limited to): Providing janitorial service, including cleaning and sanitizing public washrooms, floors, walls, tiles, toilets, urinals, rooms, bleachers and emptying waste containers. Performing minor snow removal such as shoveling, salting and sanding. Setting up and removing tables and chairs as required. Painting or doing minor repairs as required. Following task direction from other senior employees. Must be familiar with facility evacuation process in emergency situations Requirements You must be able to read and write English in order to follow directions, be able to prepare reports, maintain a log and interact with clients. Basic computer skills are required. WHMIS, C.P.R. and First Aid certification required. No experience required. Experience using industrial cleaning and/or dealing with security key panel operation, safety equipment preferred. Most work is indoors, but you may spend time outside vacuuming pools or clearing snow. Some environments have wide temperature variance (i.e. Arenas) and exposure to physical plant. May be required to attend more than one job during a shift and must provide own transportation.
