Job Description: What you’ll be doing: Do you have a track record of managing technology systems in support of fundraising, and ensuring accurate data capture and optimization? Do you have the experience and motivation to bring forth actionable reporting, harvesting insights from a variety of systems through data integration? Are you ready to play a leadership role in developing and maintaining the integrity and functionality of the foundation’s data assets through supporting an effective data governance framework and providing technical leadership? SHN Foundation is seeking an enthusiastic professional to join our team in the new role of Manager, Data Systems and Reporting. Reporting to the AVP, Campaign Operations, you will be responsible for executing the organization’s Technology, Digital and Data strategy and will help the foundation grow fundraising and engagement through data management and new technologies. A leader and mentor to power users and data champions across the foundation’s departments, and with day-to-day accountability for systems management, reporting and data governance, you will be a key part of the foundation’s success. Your responsibilities: Systems Management (20% of Time) Provide management and technical support for the CRM database and other software products. Act as the project lead for large technology projects that are part of the overhaul of the foundation’s technology stack. Ensure all users are fully leveraging system capabilities and entering clean data. Train new users on systems. Assist the AVP with monitoring user requirements and satisfaction. Manage in-system security requirements and structure for the Foundation. Work closely with the central IT team of the hospital to leverage resources in support of cross-cutting initiatives, such as data warehousing. Maintain an accurate inventory of corporate software licenses and hardware. Data Lead (25% of Time) Understand the needs of each business group and how data architecture can best be exploited in order to allow the foundation to use the fundraising system and available data more effectively. Provide leadership on the Data Governance Committee, whose purpose is to guide efforts toward high-quality data, including data structure, data hygiene, data definitions, data use, data enhancement, and data integration. Develop and implement an organization-wide data quality framework. Establish and enforce data quality standards in consultation with the AVP and the Data Governance Committee. Develop procedures (including appropriate timelines) and ensure all data maintenance activities are completed as needed. Ensure clean data in support of fundraising, events and donor activities. Support data users to ensure data quality, error and defect management and the remediation of data quality issues. Develop and implement a data dictionary and training curriculum on key data processes for consistency. Make recommendations on any external assistance for data and systems to the AVP, if required. Reporting Lead (35% of Time) Assist the AVP in evaluating reporting needs, assessing feasibility and prioritizing requests. Implement a reporting strategy under the direction of the AVP to leverage Power BI and RE NXT dashboards and reports to create a fulsome suite of reporting for all teams over the next several years, prioritizing areas most important to fundraising success. Ensure accurate, timely delivery of required reports and lists for foundation operations, in particular in support of Events, Annual Giving, Major Gifts and Marketing. Serve as the lead administrator of any future data warehouse, ensuring continuous data integration between CRM and the data warehouse, and its day-to-day functioning and performance. Provides technical direction for the design, enhancement, and deployment of data warehouse technologies. Develop reporting structures and data standards to ensure consistency across the foundation. Act as the lead on data integration, championing the development and use of Omatic software to enhance data consistency and enhance data entry and automation into RE NXT. Develop a comprehensive set of business rules and data integrity rules and scripts for data integration and reports to ensure consistency in data management (such as duplicate matching, bad data identification). Business Solutions (10% of Time) Work with the Data Governance Committee to elicit and understand requirements, and identify/recommend optimal solutions that provide accurate and relevant data to support fundraising. Design and manage data systems workflows, including roles and responsibilities of all involved. For technical, workflow or permissions issues, including the importing of third-party data sources, proactively carry out any necessary research, diagnose and report emerging issues/risks, make recommendations for solutions, and liaise with individuals or teams as required. Independently or through delegation, resolve varied and moderately complex issues, informing the AVP/other key stakeholders and making recommendations where there is cross-foundation risk or impact. Proactively creates effective change communication, process documentation, training resources and data quality procedures. Identify and support risk mitigation and opportunities for improvement by developing and monitoring performance and quality control plans, creating and implementing test plans for various data quality processes, and coordinating with the Data Governance Committee to design data standards and ensure data quality and consistency. Provides recommendations for improving or modifying business processes to improve data quality to support the foundation’s goals. Relationship Management (10% of Time) Develop and maintain strong working relationships with foundation staff, modelling donor stewardship and using influence, persuasion, and compelling arguments to provide timely and high-quality technical support, solutions, and training. Plan and carry out complex consultations with key stakeholders (e.g., Data Governance Committee, power users), building on relationships to listen, provide expert advice, and manage expectations to diagnose business needs and translate them into accepted solutions. Build strategic and effective relationships with external vendors (Blackbaud and other systems, consulting partners, and third-party hosting technical and support staff) to troubleshoot complex technical issues and help leverage platforms and software. Resolve escalated issues from foundation team members, ensuring positive relationships with stakeholders are restored/preserved. Foster strong relationships with the hospital’s Information Technology team to ensure excellent IT support of foundation team members and compliance with SHN IT processes for the foundation. Supports the AVP as required, including representing the team on internal and external committees. Foster strong relationships with power users across the foundation for different software. Mentor, coach and support all members of the foundation on best practices in IT, systems and data. What you bring to the position: Minimum five years of data/technology experience. Experience with non-profit CRM, online donation platforms, and/or IT experience in a non-profit setting. Post-secondary education, preferably in information technology or a related field, or equivalent combination of experience. Broad knowledge of modern web and cloud technologies and services. Advanced knowledge of best practices in relation to data systems and management. Demonstrated experience leading and implementing new systems or upgrades is a strong asset. Experience using Microsoft Power BI and SQL Server Reporting Services. Ability to interpret and write SQL queries, stored procedures and integration packages using SSIS (SQL Service Integration Services). Experience with Omatic is a strong asset. Experience building and implementing data warehouse solutions. Experience with administration and customization of CRM systems. Experience specific to BlackBaud products, such as Raiser’s Edge and/or BlackBaud Certification in Raiser’s Edge NXT is an asset. Strong organizational skills to determine priorities and manage multiple projects. A PMP designation is an asset. Ability to assess, document, and optimize data and reporting processes and procedures (both operational and technology-based). Understands business processes across a foundation or non-profit, with a focus on data integration and the ability to report. Understanding of the foundation’s key performance indicators, metrics and reporting requirements. Maintains a good grasp of basic training methods and how different individual learning styles can be accommodated. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High level of proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook. Familiarity with digital fundraising and email marketing is an asset. Highly developed ability to think critically and analytically while working in a fast-paced environment – respond to requested changes, validate needs against existing system capabilities and any future product roadmap and provide optimal recommendations. Good presentation and training skills with an ability to explain technical functions to colleagues both familiar and new to the topic. The ability to provide leadership and training to team members who are not direct reports. Strong troubleshooting skills and proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions. Positivity and a strong commitment to continuous learning of new technologies. Demonstrated tact, diplomacy, and interpersonal skills to build consensus and support change management. Strong attention to detail and accuracy – you love data, reporting and data governance. Knowledge of principles and techniques used in hospital fundraising.
