POSITION SUMMARY
The Electrical Technician is responsible for performing testing of various electrical components related to the bus manufacturing process. This role is also responsible for reviewing and interpreting schematics, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing systems, and operating under strict safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
· Perform functional tests on various propulsion systems, communication networks, and electrical components
· Interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and process documentation to troubleshoot, diagnose and perform repairs on systems that do not function properly
· Direct interaction with PLC systems and Ladder Logic programming
· Effectively communicate with leadership any issues that arise during the checkout process
· Maintain documentation of work and progress using various computer programs such as Microsoft Office & Excel spreadsheets, internet browsers, and company specific software
· Increase knowledge and aptitude of electrical, technical and mechanical systems principles for working around high voltage systems (over 300V)
· Perform commissioning process on high voltage systems per applicable NF checkout procedures, SWI documents and additional supporting documentation
· Provide training and support related to electrical systems including but not limited to safe work practices, diagrams/schematics, and programming and Ability to work with minimum supervision
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
· Successful completion of the Electrical Technician Training Program (classroom training, testing and OJT)
· Minimum one year experience in troubleshooting, diagnostics and repair of low/high electrical systems and mechanical design including but not limited to High Voltage control & storage systems. A combination of education and experience will be considered
· A safety focused mindset, thorough knowledge and strict compliance with High Voltage safety protocol & procedures
· Experience working with AC and DC Systems - including troubleshooting, diagnostics, and correction of issues
· Understanding of PLC programming and reading ladder logic
· Experience with reading and interpreting design specific instructions, engineering documents, and wiring schematics
· Experience with CAN networks & J1939 communications, including troubleshooting, diagnostics and corrections
· Ability to utilize digital electrical measuring tools in troubleshooting and diagnostics
· Experience in advanced programming and functioning of vendor and bus specific systems, such as – Parker/Vansco, Cummins, Allison and Wabco considered an asset
· Ability to support constantly updating priorities
· Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
· Effective communication skills at all levels of the organization
· Intermediate level computer skills preferred in the Microsoft Suite of Products (Outlook, Word, Excel)
