Family Preservation and Reunification Primary Lead
Location: Otipemisiwak Métis Government Family Reunification Building, Edmonton, AB

Position Status: 1 Full-time, Permanent Position
(7am-3pm, Monday-Friday including holidays and rotating weekend availability)
Reporting to the Associate Director of Family Care, the Primary Lead position with the Otipemisiwak Métis Government’s Family Reunification Program (FRP) is a consultant/practitioner role that works with Indigenous parents and their children who have had Child Services involvement to reunify as a family and secure their futures. It requires a trauma-informed, culturally responsive approach to case management and service delivery. The successful candidate must have exceptional organization and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage a caseload. The Family Preservation and Reunification Primary Lead will have strong experience in program development and management as well as exceptional interpersonal, relationship building, and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
• Foster a team approach with interdisciplinary team members as well as internal and external stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively with Family Preservation and Reunification Workers (FPRW) to deliver therapeutic, targeted supports and services to all clients/families.
• Support families to break down goals and daily routines into action plans.
• Develop and monitor the client/families’ weekly plan(s) and maintain STATS on program deliverables and outcomes.
• Collaborate with team members and provide coaching and direct support to families to target goals and objectives identified as priorities by parents/caregivers, stakeholders, and CFS.
• Build rapport, provide support, check on assigned families, assess the suite, and offer guidance when required.
• Provide individual transportation to families to and from targeted intervention appointments (i.e. court, school, specialists), as required.
• Manage a caseload of families as assigned, including the process of starting the files, maintaining them, closing out the files.
• Perform administrative duties such as preparing contact notes, incident reports, and other documentation as requested by the Associate Director of Family Care.
• Produce and maintain accurate records and files throughout service delivery and outreach to track status and outcomes of families’ goals and achievements.
• Complete monthly reports on clients/families assigned to individual caseloads for submission to stakeholders and partners with consent of the persons served.
• Ensure services and work performed by Support Workers and FPRWs adhere to laws, program mandates, regulations, and FRP policies and procedures to foster safe and professional standards of practice.
• Other duties as required or assigned.

• Knowledge and experience working with families who have experienced trauma, addictions, and emotional or mental challenges.
• A strategic thinker and problem solver who can anticipate challenges, determine required outcomes, and use innovative approaches to develop a supportive relationship with residents.
• Strong sense of ethics and the ability to handle sensitive or confidential information with tact and discretion.
• Excellent organizational skills, including efficiently responding to numerous demands, short deadlines, and complex and varied inquiries from staff, residents, and stakeholders.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
• Ability to effectively in a stressful environment and communicate and respond calmly in difficult situations.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• A proven track record of building collaborative partnerships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including government, industry, service providers, and community.
• Recognized strength in leading and engaging teams and creating a culture that promotes development of individual and organizational capacity.
• Ability to delegate tasks and coach team members to work effectively together.
• Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Qualifications
• Diploma or degree in Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care, Human Ecology, Addiction Studies, or a related field is required.
• Must be registered or planning to register with the appropriate Regulatory Body if education and training apply to the Health Professions Act (i.e. ACSW, CARNA, RPN, LPNA).
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working in a Human Services role.
• Acceptable attainment and annual maintenance of a Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check and an Intervention Record Check is required.
• First Aid with CPR Level C is required within three months of hire.
• Medication Administration Certification is required within one month of hire.
• Indigenous Awareness Training and Training in Trauma Informed Care is an asset.
• Previous experience working with Indigenous families/children is an asset.
Other Requirements
• Availability to work assigned shift (daytime, evening, or overnight).
• Ability to work flexible hours including days, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be willing to travel throughout Edmonton and work irregular hours.
• Must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License, operational vehicle, and proof of insurance and vehicle registration.
