About This Opportunity
We are seeking an international Accounting Manager to support and manage global subsidiary accounting, intercompany, and statutory compliance operations.
This is a new role and we are excited for this person to bring their global accounting and compliance experience to our growing accounting team. This role involves building out the structure or our international accounting function to ensure local compliance across our international subsidiaries. We are implementing a new accounting system (SAP S/4Hana) and this is a great time to join to help build and refine the process, system, and support team (external services providers at this time) for our international accounting operations.
This position is based in Ottawa or Toronto, Canada.
What You Will Do
Statutory Compliance & External Provider Management
Build and implement the structure for local compliance across international subsidiaries, ensuring alignment and compliance with both local statutory requirements and global standards and. our external service providers.
Serve as day-to-day liaison with external service providers to manage statutory accounting, audit, and tax compliance processes across multiple international jurisdictions.
Coordinate statutory audits, responding to auditor inquiries and supporting documentation requests.
Build and manage a global compliance calendar to track statutory deadlines and deliverables.
Coordinate cross-functionally with external service providers, including legal and tac, as well as internally in the setup of new legal entities and operations.
Subsidiary Accounting Operations
Develop and manage the structure for the international accounting operations.
Initially this will include supporting the monthly close process for international subsidiaries by preparing journal entries, bank reconciliations and perform variance analysis.
Manage cash funding requirements for monthly funding of international entities.
Develop, manage, and monitor and validate intercompany balances and ensure proper elimination entries are prepared during consolidation.
Support foreign exchange accounting transactions and process in the new accounting system.
Develop and maintain internal controls for international financial operations, ensuring compliance to local regulations and identifying opportunities for automation and process improvements.
Transfer Pricing
Manage transfer pricing compliance, including cost-plus intercompany invoicing for shared services, R&D, and other cross-border transactions with the support of external service providers.
Work closely with external tax and legal teams to ensure alignment with transfer pricing policies and documentation requirements.
What We Are Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, ACCA, or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
10+ years of experience in international accounting, including statutory compliance, subsidiary operations, and intercompany accounting.
Hands-on experience with ERP accounting systems like SAP S/4HANA including with consolidations, eliminations, and intercompany accounting process.
Experience managing third-party service providers for statutory and tax compliance.
Solid understanding of IFRS, US GAAP, and local GAAP frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.
Strong knowledge of transfer pricing, cost-plus structures, and intercompany accounting.
Proficiency in Excel; experience with reconciliation tools and financial reporting platforms is a plus.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions and cultures.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
