Reporting to the Procurement Lead, the Sourcing Specialist is responsible for coordinating various aspects of procurement planning and supplier management. This role reports directly to the Manager, Procurement & Strategic Sourcing and maintains a dotted-line relationship with the Director of Supply Chain to ensure alignment with broader sourcing strategies and cross-functional program execution. This includes collaborating with planning, NPI procurement, engineering and quality teams to ensure procurement strategies align with production demand, mitigate supply chain risk, and support Redlen's strategic sourcing goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Procurement Planning
Create procurement plans that align with build schedules and ensure timely delivery of materials.
Analyze ordering levels and coordinate with planning to maintain optimal inventory levels.
Work closely with production planning, NPI, and engineering teams to translate forecasts into sourcing actions.
Support procurement strategies that enhance efficiency and contribute to overall cost reduction.
Identify and classify part-level risk; develop and support mitigation strategies in coordination with the Procurement Manager.
Supplier Management and Sourcing
Support sourcing initiatives for both production and NPI builds.
Conduct market research to identify and evaluate potential suppliers.
Support supplier selection processes with a focus on cost, quality, delivery, and risk.
Monitor vendor performance and share feedback with the procurement and quality teams.
Assist in the execution of cost improvement initiatives under guidance of Procurement leadership.
Support supplier development efforts, including supplier onboarding and qualification activities.
Electro-Mechanical & Technical Focus
Experience sourcing electro-mechanical components and assemblies (e.g., connectors, cables, enclosures, fasteners).
Collaborate with engineering to support DFM/A initiatives and resolve supplier manufacturability challenges.
Understand tolerance implications, material specs, and supplier production capabilities.
Project/Program Management
Manage procurement tasks across multiple NPI projects simultaneously.
Track critical path activities and supplier deliverables using structured tools (e.g., Gantt, trackers).
Communicate risks and issues proactively to stakeholders and escalate where necessary.
Support timely execution of supplier deliverables tied to project milestones.
Experience Desired:
Experience in production or project planning within a manufacturing or engineering setting.
Experience in electro-mechanical sourcing, supplier development, and technical negotiations.
Strong project management and organizational skills; familiarity with multi-phase NPI environments.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate across Engineering, Planning, and QA.
Proficiency in procurement and manufacturing systems (ERP, MRP, BOM tools).
Salary Range: $63,000 - $85,000 CAD

It is common for ranges to span multiple levels in order to attract top talent across experience levels. It is uncommon to be hired at the top of the range; however, in exceptional cases where a candidate's skills and expertise significantly exceed the role's requirements, we may consider offering a higher salary.
