The Senior Operations Controller plays a leading role in building the systems and processes required to support best in class production and deliver reliable and sustained margins through a period of accelerated growth and is directly responsible managing all aspect of product costing and related processes including cost planning and monitoring, cost containment, margin control and inventory planning.
Key responsibilities include managing or directly performing the following:
Act as a trusted financial advisor to business leaders in the organization, particularly within manufacturing.
Collaborate with key cross-functional team members to develop and establish multi-year product cost targets and roadmaps for achieving those targets.
Play a key role in the development of product pricing strategies.
Lead the development, automation and implementation of policies, processes, internal controls and systems required to support rapid growth.
Identify opportunities to drive continuous improvement by leveraging technology and automation tools to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations and reporting.
Establish and maintain appropriate standard costs for labor, material and overheads.
Develop metrics and reports for management that provide insight into factors affecting the cost and profitability of products.
Conduct variance analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and provide insights and recommendations to optimize operating performance and reduce costs.
Assist in the preparation of updates to annual and long-term business plans and forecasts.
Work with external auditors in the completion of the annual audit.
Lead and mentor cost accounting team members.
Candidate Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or equivalent.
CPA designation.
10+ years operational accounting experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in the semiconductor industry is considered an asset.
Experience with financial modelling.
Experience implementing or working with scalable systems and processes that support best in class manufacturing.
Advanced experience with ERP systems and ability to reimplement and leverage more features not currently or normally used.
Experience with costing a product, tallying the cost of direct materials used to make the product.
Possess a deep understanding of all aspects of product costing and related processes including cost planning and monitoring, cost containment, margin control, inventory planning and ability to drive overall costing operations.
Highly collaborative with strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, time management and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including the ability to inspire and motivate team members to achieve common goals.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or equivalent.
CPA designation.
Expected Salary Range: $115,000 - $160,000 CAD

It is common for ranges to span multiple levels in order to attract top talent across experience levels. It is uncommon to be hired at the top of the range; however, in exceptional cases where a candidate's skills and expertise significantly exceed the role's requirements, we may consider offering a higher salary.
