The Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto invites applications for a 60% FTE Research Associate (Limited Term) for a 2-year appointment. The anticipated start date is in December 2025.
The Research Associate is intrinsically involved in the research project where they contribute, by way of their academic expertise, to the project as directed by the principal investigator. The Research Associate is expected to carry out research responsibilities with a high degree of independence.
The Research Associate will work at the intersection of human-computer interaction and natural language processing. Duties consist of engaging independently in research that will involve developing and running human-subject study protocols in relation to the area of social reading technology, i.e., Large Language Models that automatically generate narrative fiction, as well bringing subject matter expertise to work with undergraduate and graduate students in the pursuit of this research programme.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education - PhD in Computer Science
Experience – Minimum 2 years of post-doctoral research experience with demonstrated academic and research expertise in social reading technology.
Skills – Technical expertise in social reading technology, human-computer interaction, the design of human-subject protocols
Additional skills required include project management, leadership and interpersonal skills to assist in the guidance and implementation of the research project that is comprised of a multi-disciplinary and international team of students and scholars.
