About us:
The Enterprise Applications and Solutions Integration (EASI) department within the Chief Information Officer’s (CIO) Division is a central department responsible for all matters pertaining to the development, maintenance and effectiveness of the core administrative management and student systems at the U of T. Included within these responsibilities are all central SAP systems, such as Financial Services, Human Resources, Research Administration and Procurement; the central U of T Student System (ROSI); approximately 40 related vendor and specialized web applications, as well as central Business Intelligence and Document Management applications.
Your opportunity:
Under the general direction of the Assistant Director, Application Development Financial Information Systems, you will be part of a dynamic, collaborative, and innovative team focused on delivering transformational technology solutions to the University. Through your efforts in this position, you will directly help improve financial management solutions provided to the University’s students, faculty, librarians, and administrative staff.
As the Concur Product Owner, you will lead the ongoing IT support and evolution of the newly deployed SAP Concur expense solution. This role will serve as the primary IT contact for Concur, working closely with the Finance team to ensure the system operates smoothly and continues to meet enterprise needs. The successful candidate will become the organization’s Concur expert, staying up to date on SAP’s product roadmap and translating that knowledge into clear, actionable recommendations for business stakeholders. They will play a critical role in researching, documenting, and advising on potential enhancements, and when changes are approved, this role will take the lead in implementing them, ensuring technical accuracy and successful rollout.
On a day-to-day basis, the Concur Product Owner will monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support to end users when needed. They will also manage integrations with supporting systems and ensure data flows are accurate and reliable. This role requires strong communication and documentation skills, as well as the ability to deliver training and support materials to help users navigate the platform effectively. Your responsibilities will include:
- Evaluating new technologies or new and modified businesses processes to determine enhancement requirements
- Analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and developing technical solutions for systems improvements
- Researching, analyzing and recommending potential changes to system features
- Conducting needs assessments to determine end-user technical requirements
- Planning the implementation of new business system processes
- Developing and editing standard operating procedures for IT services
- Facilitating educational workshops and seminars
- Leading and planning IT projects; developing charter, scope, resources and schedule for project(s)
- Analyzing and writing program scripts to extract, reformat and analyze data
- Creating and updating records
- Responding to service requests in a timely fashion
- Analyzing and monitoring vendor service and performance
- Monitoring the performance and integrity of servers
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- A minimum of five years of experience in IT systems analysis, product ownership, or a related technical role.
- Proven ability to analyze and document business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Experience in planning and implementing IT systems, including components of IT-related projects.
- Strong skills in system integration, especially reconciling business needs with technical architecture.
- Ability to evaluate new technologies, assess system enhancements, and recommend improvements.
- Familiarity with vendor management, including monitoring service levels and performance.
- Excellent communications skills, capable of training end users, drafting documentation, and facilitating workshops or seminars.
- Skilled in troubleshooting complex IT issues, liaising with technical specialists, and responding to service requests.
- Knowledge of data analysis, including writing scripts to extract and reformat data.
Assets (Nonessential):
- Experience working with SAP Concur and/or other similar expense management systems
- Experience working with SAP S/4HANA Financial Information Systems
- Familiarity with the University of Toronto environment, governance, and policies
- Proficient in project management, including developing schedules, tracking milestones,and reporting status updates.
- Detail oriented, especially for tasks involving data input and documentation.
- Able to manage multiple requests simultaneously and a fast-paced workload.

USW Pay Band 16 -- $103,367. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $132,188. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
