The Department of Cardiac Sciences in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Clinical Research Coordinator. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 1 year (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
This position reports to the Principal Investigator.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Clinical Research Coordinator manages most aspects of site trial operations. Responsibilities include coordination and planning of all protocol-related assessments and evaluations, communication with the research ethics board, coordination with external sites, budget negotiations, coordination of research trainees, and assistance with manuscript preparation. The Research Coordinator is integral in the management of multiple protocols of various complexities within the appropriate time frames.
This position is at the Foothills Campus. However, travel to the South Health Campus, Rockyview General Hospital and/or Peter Lougheed Centre may be required.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
The Clinical Research Coordinator is responsible to maintain established programs and procedures, working under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
- Preparation and submission of research applications, safety reporting, study amendments, closure etc. to CHREB, study sponsors, research partners and regulatory authorities as required
- Coordination of personnel and services required to meet protocol requirements
- Data collection, storage and data entry per protocol and all governing regulations
- Confidentiality of participant information and medical records
- Excellent record keeping and commitment to professional, personal and regulatory accountabilities
- Identifies own learning needs and pursues appropriate learning activities
- Actively seeks opportunities for professional development
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Bachelor in Health Science or another related area of study
- Active membership in Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA) preferred
- Certification or evidence of attendance in professional development opportunities in the area of heart failure / Amyloid is an asset
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a research coordinator required
- Current GCP / Division 5 / TCPS 2 certifications required
- Experience in cardiology or radiology preferred
- Experience with University of Calgary process an asset
- Demonstrated ability to function independently and within a team environment
- Proven leadership and willingness to lead various projects from initiation to close
- Fluent in English; excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with the IRISS platform and regulatory reporting
- Demonstrated strong organizational and time management skills
- Effective ability to adapt to change and shifting priorities
- Open to learning and development, willing to accept new challenges and assignments
