The Faculty of Nursing invites applications for a Electroneurophysiology (ENP) Technologist for Women's Research Project. This Part-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 23 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
This position involves conducting EEGs on women of all ages to develop a comprehensive database of 800-1000 EEGs for use in advancing research in precision mental health therapy for women. This pioneering database will be the first of its kind globally, aiming to promote equity in women's brain research and provide the knowledge to impact women's mental health therapy.
This position will report directly to the research coordinator and/or the PI, Dr. Dawn Kingston. It is a 23 months, part-time position requiring some flexibility in specific days and hours. There are (2) positions available, one at each location below:
- The Women's Mental Health Clinic, Foothills Medical Centre, Calgary, Alberta
- The Lois Hole Hospital for Women, Royal Alexandra Hospital, Edmonton, Alberta
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Perform electroencephalograms (EEGs) on research participants
- Ensure participant comfort and provide necessary information throughout the process
- Communicate effectively and professionally with hospital and research staff
- Schedule room bookings and maintain daily records of EEGs conducted
- Clean, maintain, and ensure proper functioning of EEG equipment, including the washing and drying of electrode caps
- Monitor inventory levels of supplies and consumables
- Provide weekly progress reports to the research coordinator
- Participate in research team meetings as required
- Adapt to the evolving needs and dynamic environment of the research project
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Hold a current registration and active practice permit with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT) as an Electroneurophysiology Technologist
- Proficient in using computer systems for conducting EEGs, transferring data to secure environments, and assisting participants with completing online surveys
- Demonstrate empathy, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills
- Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a research team
