Job Title: Senior Accounting Manager Construction \& Development

Salary Range: $125,000 - $145,000

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accounting Manager to oversee and manage the accounting functions within our construction and development operations. The ideal candidate will have 7 years of progressive accounting experience in the construction and development industry and be proficient with Newstar software. This role reports directly to the Controller or Director of Finance and will play a critical part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and project accounting.
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including AP, AR, payroll, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.

Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with ASPE (or IFRS if applicable).

Ensure accurate project/job cost tracking and reporting for multiple construction and development projects.

Utilize Newstar ERP system to manage financial data, job costing, budgets, and forecasting.

Monitor and maintain internal controls to ensure integrity of financial information and safeguard company assets.

Lead preparation for annual audits, liaising with external auditors and tax advisors as needed.

Support budgeting and forecasting activities in collaboration with project managers and senior leadership.

Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.

Assist with cash flow management, including monitoring project draws and financing requirements.

Supervise, mentor, and develop a small team of accounting professionals.

Stay current with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and industry best practices.
Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.

Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience in the construction and development industry.

Proficiency in Newstar ERP software is required.

Strong understanding of job costing, project accounting, and construction revenue recognition.

Solid knowledge of ASPE (or IFRS) and Canadian tax compliance.

Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel and accounting software tools.

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
