Your opportunity:
The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology is among the oldest in North America. Weoffer training in pharmacology and toxicology to both undergraduate and graduate students who may subsequently go on to exciting research, regulatory and administrative careers in academic, industrial, and healthcare provision settings. We also provide training to professional programs such as Medicine and Pharmacy.
As the Clinical Research Coordinator you will support research involving aging Asian populations. You will assist with participant recruitment, consent, scheduling, and testing to determine study eligibility. Drawing on your strong organizational skills and attention to detail, you will ensure that data and biosamples are accurately collected, coded, and maintained in accordance with research ethics and institutional standards. Your ability to communicate effectively and provide supportive interactions with participants will contribute to the smooth and ethical execution of study activities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering presentations and posting advertisements to recruit study participants
- Determining participant eligibility against study criteria
- Preparing consent forms and organizing study materials
- Scheduling and conducting participant assessments in English, Mandarin, or Cantonese
- Maintainingresearch databases and records, ensuring that all information is accurately coded, entered, and stored in compliance with confidentiality and research integrity standards
- Handling biosamples and assisting with the collection, labeling, and transport of biological materials in accordance with safety and research protocols
- Resolving issues that arise during test administration and escalating concerns to the Principal Investigator or senior research staff as required
- Traveling to participant locations as required to conduct study visits or collect samples and materials
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
- Minimum one (1) year of experience working with older adults in a research or clinical study setting
- Demonstrated experience conducting participant testing and assessments in accordance with research protocols and ethical standards
- Experience preparing consent forms using templates
- Demonstrated experience maintaining research databases and records including accurate data entry, coding of quantitative research data, and generating reports
- Experience taking and distributing meeting minutes
- Experience handling sensitive or confidential participant information in compliance with research ethics guidelines
- Strong verbal and written proficiency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to accuracy and detail
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Willingness and ability to travel to various participant locations within Ontario as needed
