As the Manager, Network Infrastructure & Networking Services, you will play a pivotal leadership role in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of MedIT’s technology infrastructure. You will oversee the planning, implementation, and maintenance of the Temerty Faculty of Medicine’s network and systems environments, including data centres, communications rooms, wired and wireless networks, inter-campus connectivity, and cloud computing architecture. Leveraging your exceptional people management skills, you will lead a skilled team of network and systems professionals, fostering operational excellence and innovation in service delivery. Serving as a subject matter expert, you will provide strategic direction on infrastructure design, capacity planning, and emerging technologies. You will collaborate cross functionally with senior academic and administrative leaders, researchers, and partners to support TFOM’s teaching, research, and administrative missions.
Qualifications
- University degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 7 years of directly related experience involving design, implementation, administration and maintenance of highly complex IT networks, in a large, multi-vendor computing environment, preferably in a reputable, higher education academic institution.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, designing network, cloud, and systems environments in a large scale environment
- Strong understanding of modern infrastructure technologies including data centers, networks, cloud and security
- Proven success with agile project management software development methodologies
- Knowledge and understanding of emerging trends in the use of technologies, networks, distance education initiatives and diverse computer platforms in education
- Develops network architecture solutions to support high performance computer systems and research data centers.
- Extensive technical experience with all aspects of horizontal cabling for multiple local area networks, optical fibre connectivity and other data communication systems.
- Proven Ability to trace fiber lines, and rack, install, and configure servers. Setup, manage, and maintain the equipment in high computer data rooms.
- Experience with enterprise electrical systems and power distribution, with an understanding of electrical designs and electrical diagrams.
- Previous experience in a research-intensive academic setting an asset.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing staff, preferably in a unionized environment, and building and maintaining effective working relationships with diverse groups.
- Experience establishing technical work plans, managing project deliverables and leading teams of technical staff
- Experience managing, planning, developing and monitoring budgets and forecasting costs

Assets (Nonessential)
- Training/Certifications in Microsoft, VMware, MS Azure, Firewalls (FTD), IT Infrastructure Library v3 (ITIL), and Cyber Security considered an asset.
- CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), or CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), CompTIA (i.e. A+, Cloud+, Network+, Server+, Linux+)
