POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Supervisor – Golf Services, and the technical direction and guidance of the Leadhand Greenskeeper responsible for the general maintenance of the grounds.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operates turf equipment (grass cutting), riding and push mower.
Operates grass trimmers (motorized), rakes and shovels.
Washes machinery and picks up garbage/litter.
Performs miscellaneous light and heavy manual labour outdoors in all weather conditions.
Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
Must be a secondary school graduate and enrolled at a college or university; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Previous turf/landscaping experience (i.e. grass cutting, sod laying, trimming, etc.)
Skills & Abilities:
Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Must be highly motivated and able to work well in a team environment
Must be able to work with minimal supervision
Superior customer service skills and ability to deal with the public in a courteous and tactful manner
Ability to work outdoors in adverse conditions
Must possess and maintain a valid Class “G2” Ontario Drivers Licence, or equivalent
Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
Assets:
Experience with operating mowers (riding or push, lawn tractors, etc.)
Experience working on a golf course
Knowledge and experience with the game of golf
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Must be available for weekdays and weekends as required
Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
May be required to provide a successful driver’s abstract
