What you will do:
The Key Account Manager will be responsible for overseeing and expanding existing client relationships while identifying and pursuing new business opportunities to drive sales growth. They will manage budgets and negotiate agreements to ensure profitable partnerships, while also creating sales tools and promotional materials to support account initiatives. A key part of the role involves building strong, long-term relationships with clients and acting as a trusted strategic advisor. The Key Account Manager will also work closely with internal teams and represent the company at trade shows and industry events.
Job Duties
- Generate, manage, and nurture existing accounts. Capitalize on account opportunities and ways to grow the account.
- Identify opportunities for new business channels and accounts, then define strategies to penetrate and increase sales. Monitor the negotiated business plans, analyze the results, and recommend any corrective strategies.
- Manage trade spend and optimize profitability for new and existing client/distributor agreements, tenders, and contracts. Negotiate with your client portfolio in accordance with the budget and profitability plan to ensure all business deals are profitable.
- Develop and deliver sales materials, deal sheets, new items creation material, retailer ad submission and other promotional programs.
- Build and maintain relationships to influence long-term strategic direction, and act as a trusted advisor to the customer.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders (Sales, Operations and Accounting) to assist in growing the business.
- Attend and participate in trade shows and other sales events.
Requirements
- Minimum three (3) years of successful sales and account management experience in Canada consumer good market with proven sales record.
- Proven experience working with Canada's major retailers, including but not limited to Loblaw, Metro, Sobeys, Walmart, and Shoppers Drug Mart.
- Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Business or a related field, or equivalent senior-level sales and management experience.
- Strong ability to meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality work, with excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
- Solid understanding of trade dynamics and profitability, with a strategic mindset to ensure mutually beneficial business outcomes.
- Creative thinker with the ability to develop innovative solutions and effectively present them to both clients and internal teams.
- Demonstrated business acumen, negotiation expertise, leadership qualities, and strong analytical and communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of retail and/or wholesale sales practices, strategies, and industry trends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Must be able to commute to the office at least three days per week.
