Position Summary:
Lead the activities to optimize production processes so that they are a productive and safe working environment, producing a quality part at the lowest possible cost.
Your daily responsibilities will include:
- · Utilizing the principles of lean manufacturing as a basis for process improvement:
a. Coordinate the development and implementation of process improvements that affect plant layout, safety, morale, quality, cost and delivery.
b. Analyze assigned processes to determine root cause for any existing or possible defects; implement solutions through all available methods.
c. Analyze assigned processes to develop improvements for safety, cost and delivery.
d. Process and develop new processes and pats. Work with engineering and estimating to come up with best process and material utilization.
· Work with operators, supervisors and engineers to implement solutions. Ensure that the production group has a thorough understanding so that they are able to sustain the solutions and make further incremental changes.
· Document the existing process through the use of standard measurable data. Evaluate the effectiveness of the permanent solution using the same data.
· Review any relevant process documentation (FMEA, control plan, work instructions) and update (upon approval) as/where required and verify changes.
· Compile operator work instructions with process engineers and plant personnel.
· Contract and co-ordinate suppliers of various assembly and process improvement equipment.
· Cost justification on capital and process improvements.
· Other duties as assigned.
Skills:
- Leadership, communication (written and oral), managing results, proficient computer orientation (must be fluent with Microsoft Word and Excel) and ERP/MRP systems.
- CAD, Solidworks, Autocad
What are we looking for?
- Must have at least 5 years of experience working in an automotive manufacturing environment
- At least 5 years manufacturing industry related.
- Familiar with lean manufacturing principles (such as 5S, Kaizan, Six Sigma, etc.),
- Quality operating systems (such as ISO9001, QS9000, TS16949, ISO14000), metal forming (stamping, rod/wire or tube forming), welding (robotic, mig or resistance) and blueprint reading (including GDT).
