As an Associate Data Engineer you will be enabling the business by providing data, reporting and analytics solutions, through developing and supporting Data Ingestion and transformation in the Insurance Data Platform (IDP), Azure Databricks. What will you be doing? Identifying Data Sources: Identifying, researching, and understanding new data sources for the Insurance Data Platform (IDP). Connecting and Monitoring: Connecting to new data sources, and monitoring and maintaining data flows. Documenting Processes: Documenting all processes and data objects as part of the ingestion process. Creating Transformations: Creating and productionising data transformations while maintaining and monitoring transformation processes. Providing Guidance: Offering guidance and advice in the provision of data for analytics and collaborating on building robust and sustainable models. Integrating Data: Providing expertise on IDP capabilities and collaborating to deliver optimal solutions for data integration with other systems/environments. Supporting Users: Gathering and documenting user requirements and providing ad-hoc support and training for users of the IDP. What are we looking for in you? Data Engineering Experience: Basic experience in Data Engineering, preferably with Azure. Developing Transformations: Demonstrated experience in developing data transformation processes using ETL (Extract, Transform & Load) tools. Cloud and Data Warehousing Knowledge: Basic understanding of cloud principles and modern data warehousing, with desired knowledge in Azure solutions (e.g., Azure Data Lake, Azure Blob, Azure SQL Database) and Databricks. Problem-Solving Skills: Advanced problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Data Visualization: Basic understanding of data visualization tools such as Power BI. Programming Language: Basic understanding of Python, Pysparks and SQL. Understanding Business Needs: Understanding of business areas, particularly Sales, Marketing, and Finance. Educational Background: Mandatory tertiary qualification in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Data or Software Engineering, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or a Business/Commerce/Marketing discipline.
